Summer Ice Cream Party: Top 10 Ice Cream Shops in L.A.
This week we are exploring Los Angeles for cold, creamy perfection. We’ve compiled, for you our dear party guest, the Top 10 Ice Cream Shops in L.A.
1. Saffron & Rose Ice Cream
The Persian ice cream sold here is smooth and comes in exotic, unique flavors. If you go there, you are required to try the Saffron & Pistachio. Because we said so, that’s why.
2. Carmela Ice Cream
Carmela’s ice cream is super creamy and satisfying, especially their Brown Sugar Vanilla Bean.
3. Neveux Artisan Creamery
A lot of ice cream shops claim unique flavors, but this one has the market cornered. But if you’re not feeling adventurous enough to try the Chocolate Grapefruit, the Roasted Banana will redefine everything you know about banana ice cream.
4. Gelateria Uli
Gelateria Uli has only been in business for a couple months and still has that new gelato shop smell. The gelato is light and creamy, and they are not stingy on the samples.
5. Sweet Rose Creamery
Aside from having the, hands down, cutest name on this list, Sweet Rose Creamery has delicious Salted Caramel. They even sprinkle sea salt on the top.
6. Scoops Westside
Scoops’s has interesting flavors (Coconut Green Tea, anyone?), and has a chalkboard where you can pitch your flavor ideas and feel powerful and important.
This is the ice cream truck that you wish was on loop in every neighborhood you’ve ever lived in. They only have chocolate and vanilla (and chocolate vanilla twist), but that’s okay because they are scrumptious. You even have the option of sea salt raining down your frozen treat.
8. Blockheads Shavery Company
Blockheads’s serves snow cream, which doesn’t exactly adhere to our technical definition of ice cream. It’s more of a cross between shaved ice and ice cream, but it is tasty and it looks cool.
9. Pazzo Gelato
Another gelato addition to our list, Pazzo Gelato has a mind boggling array of flavors. If you go in and they don’t have the flavor you had your heart set on, tell them. They may have some stashed in the back for you.
10. Peddler’s Creamery
Of all of the ice cream shops, this one has the biggest novelty factor. They have organic and vegan offerings, and all of the churners are powered by bicycles. Yeah, we know. Customers even have the opportunity hop on a bike and manually churn some ice cream themselves. We never opt for that, though, because we are lazy and only show for the frozen fat and sugar.
Come back next Wednesday for the ice cream recipe you may have been waiting for since summer began.
