Posted on December 2, 2013

Winter, also known as the season of doom and despair, also known as “Noooo!”, is on its way in just a short while. Whether you’re a lover, a hater, or you live someplace sunny and have no opinion, there are a few redeeming features of winter that most of us can agree on. One of them is having a mouth-watering meal to come home to at the end of the day.

For many, the slow cooker is the best piece of cookware in the kitchen and it’s great to be able to throw a bunch of ingredients into a pot and have them magically transform into a delicious masterpiece. It almost feels like cheating.

But did you know that your slow cooker can make you feel like even more of a cheater with five star level recipes that go above and beyond your usual soups and stews? Check out these amazing gourmet slow cooker recipes that will get you through winter and wow your dinner guests too!

1.) Jimmy Fallon’s Crock Pot Chili

Comedian Jimmy Fallon joined cooking forces with Martha Stewart for a demo of his famous crock pot chili recipe. There are a few original and unlikely additions to this meat lover’s dish –  including beer! Jimmy likes a bit of heat, so a blend of habanero peppers, chile powder, and cayenne pack a punch and give it an extra kick of flavor. A lot of punching and kicking going on in this recipe, but it’s all worth it for a delicious bowl of homemade crock pot chili served with tortilla chips, sour cream and lime wedges. Mmm!
